Half-wave straight dipole or inverted-V • starting cut lengths and dimensioned layout

01 Frequency & layout
02 Construction
03 Length adjustment

0.95 is a common starting point for a practical half-wave wire. Insulation, conductor diameter, height, nearby objects and end fittings alter the final resonant length.

For an inverted-V, the entered angle changes the mechanical span only; this page does not pretend to predict the impedance change.

DIMENSIONED LAYOUT

Your dipole

Starting dimensions only. Installation height, insulation, surroundings and feed arrangement alter resonance. Measure and trim before final use.

Formula, assumptions & accuracy

Free-space wavelength is λ = c/f. Main wire cut length = 0.5 × λ × the entered length factor. Each leg is half of that wire cut length. The feed gap is a mechanical separation and is shown separately rather than subtracted from the cut length.

For an inverted-V, the included angle is used only to calculate horizontal span and vertical drop. No exact feed impedance, SWR, gain or radiation pattern is predicted.

The drawing is scaled to fit the page and is not a 1:1 cutting template.
